Bernice G. Wisnewski

Bernice G. Wisnewski 76, Edgar, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born December 10, 1933 in Antigo, daughter of the late Anton and Helen (Taterka) Spychalla. On February 7, 1959, she married Arthur Wisnewski at St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church, Antigo. He survives. Bernice was a 1951 graduate of Antigo High School and was Valedictorian of her class. She furthered her education at North Central Technical College where she graduated with a degree in marketing in 1978 and later received her realtor's certificate. Bernice worked as a waitress for the former 29 Supper Club, Wausau and also worked at Marathon Cheese Corp. For many years, she farmed alongside her husband in Edgar. In the early 1970's, Bernice was a strong advocate for the creation of the "911" system. She also was a member of the OLR Board District #16, Wausau. Among her many interests, she enjoyed gardening, canning, snowmobiling, playing cards, bingo and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. She was a member of the Holy Family PCCW. Survivors include, her husband of 51 years, Arthur Wisnewski, Edgar; two children, Lisa Wisnewski, Wausau and Arthur Wisnewski Jr., Edgar; three sisters, Helen (Floyd) Blomdahl, Franklin, Wis., Leona Baraniak, Milwaukee and Grace (Steve) Koss, Antigo; one brother, Tony Spychalla, Antigo; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Catherine Lese. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. The Very Reverend Charles Hiebl will preside. Friends may call Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
