Bernice E. Schlei

Bernice E. Schlei, 92, Wausau died Friday, October 24, 2014 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau. She was born March 31, 1922 in Wausau, daughter of the late Elmer and Elsie (Kramer) Pankonien. Bernice was married to Steve Nemke who preceded her in death. She then married Julius Schlei and he also preceded her in death. Bernice was a nurse's aide at the former St. Mary's Hospital, Wausau. Survivors include her children, Carol (Dwayne) Nass, Wausau, Shirley (Eric) Huff, Oregon, Ceil (Danny) Schwalbach, Franklin, Rosemary Hummel, Milwaukee, Jonathon (Cindi) Nemke, Milwaukee and Denise (Jeff) Palowski, Hatley, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and her siblings, Harvey and Gloria. Besides her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters. Private family services will be held at a later date.
