Bernice E. Beyreis, age 91, died Tuesday, November 7 at Aspirus Palliative Care Unit. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Bernice was born June 22, 1926 in Wausau, to the late Henry and Minnie Schmidt. Beloved wife of Bruce R. Beyreis for 52 years. Bernice was the loving, helpful and caring mother of two daughters, Paulette (Robert) Linder and Wendy (Richard) Mroczenski and one step-daughter, Jill (Kevin) Swatloski; eight grandchildren, Thaddeus (Bonnie) Linder, Shannon (Jason) Lambert, Curtis Mroczenski, Ami (Kenny) Klatt, Kimberly (Kevin) Stein and Klay (Stacy) Swatloski; eight great-grandchildren, Meadow Lambert, Jada Linder, Skyler Lambert, Thaddeus Linder Jr., Jax Lambert, Kenley Swatloski, Kiera Mroczenski and Wyatt Klatt. Bernice is also survived by two sisters, Doris Wauchope and Lois Guilliame and one brother, David (Mary Ann) Schmidt. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Raatz. Bernice was a hard worker all of her life, first at Marathon Rubber, then Memorial Hospital in the Tea Room, at Uptown Foods Market in produce then as produce manager at Kohlman's IGA. For many years, she enjoyed spending time at the cottages on Pelican Lake. Bernice also liked traveling to various Masonic functions throughout the State and also the United States. She was also a past Worthy High Priestess of Bethesda Shrine, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. Bernice's feelings and advice for all her family and friends are conveyed in an article she kept which is as follows: "When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me; I want no rites in a gloom filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared. Miss me but let me go, for this is a journey that we all must take and each must go alone. It's all part of the Master's plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart, go the friends we know and bury your sorrow in doing good deeds. Miss me-but let me go". Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2017 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Wausau. Rev. Sue Lee will officiate.
