Berneice I. Jones

Berneice "B" & Bernie" I. Jones, 85, Wausau, passed away Wednesday August 16, 2017 at home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services and her family and friends. Berneice was born on November 4, 1931 to the late August and Bertha (Schmidt) Zimmerman in Wausau. On February 21, 1953, she married the late Lyle O. Jones. They were married 63 years until Lyle's passing last August. Berneice was a woman with a very, very big heart and a wonderful sense of humor. She loved cooking and baking for her family, especially the boys. She always made plenty so there would be enough to take some home. Her many enjoyments were playing cards and board games with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and always flourished her yard with colorful flowers. She loved to go on many walks with her husband and stop for lunch after. She will be greatly missed by family and those who had the privilege of knowing her. Berneice endured many hardships including the loss of her son Ricky at an early age, her husband and her much loved grandson Jeff Jr., both within six months. She missed them dearly. Survivors include her children; Sally Jones, Weston, Barbara Jones-Milton, Rhinelander, Jeffrey J. Jones Sr., Mosinee, Timothy Jones, Wausau and Amy Jones, Kronenwetter; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred and Arvilla and two brothers, Lawrence and Earl. She was also preceded in death by 10 siblings. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday August 23, 2017 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth St., Wausau. Pastor Chris Juvinall will officiate. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
