Bernard W. Pophal, 66, Wausau, died Tuesday, July 8, 2003 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.
He was born July 10, 1936, in Wausau, son of the late Bernhard and Adeline (Kundo) Pophal. On November 6, 1976, he married June Drumm in Wausau. She survives.
Bernard retired after 25 years with Wausau Concrete. He also worked for North Central Health Care Facility. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during the Cuban Misslle Crisis. Bernard enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking, and the love and company of his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, June M. Pophal, Wausau; one son Michael Pophal, Wausau; three daughters, Lisa (Ken) Syring, Abbotsford, Kim Pophal, Sebastian, Fla., Dawn Pophal, Rothschild; three grandchildren, Leslie, and Emily Syring, and Tommy Bloch; three step-sons, Chris, Andy, and Tony Meurett, of Fla.; a step-daughter Julie Meurett, of Fla.; and a brother Ronald (Weda) Pophal, Prairieville, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Adria and Mary Lou Pophal, and Shirley Pasnecker.
Memorial services will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2003 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. The Rev. Nathan Meador will officiate. Friends may call Friday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of services at the Sixth Street fruneral home.
