Bernard “Bernie” A. Kreuzer, 81, of Rib Mountain, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Aspirus Hospice House. He was born in Milwaukee on July 2, 1945, to the late George and Lucille (Dietzler) Kreuzer. Bernie graduated in 1963 from Brookfield Central High School and later married Patricia “Patti” Waldinger on April 26, 1969, at St. Mark Catholic Church in Rothschild.
Bernie worked as a route salesman for Frito-Lay and retired after 28 years of calling on his many clients. After his retirement, he worked part-time for Brickner’s and later for City Delivery. Bernie liked to stay busy and enjoyed feeding the birds, fishing, ice fishing, small game hunting, deer hunting, golfing, and bowling. Over the years he bowled in many leagues including Knights of Columbus men’s and couple’s with Patti. Bernie’s different leagues also had him bowling at many of the bowling lanes (former and current) in the surrounding area like the Wausau Bowling Center, Mountain Lanes, Tanglewood Lanes, and Day’s Bowl-A-Dome. He celebrated the day he rolled a 298 game. Bernie was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1069 and a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.
Dogs were a big part of Bernie and Patti’s life. During Bernie’s early hunting years, he had two Beagles that he hunted rabbits with. More recently they had the companionship of two Shih Tzus, Pixie and Molly.
Survivors include his wife, Patti; sister and Irish twin, Nancy (Don) Van Sleet; brother, John (Sue) Kreuzer of South Carolina; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Elyse (Dave) Wiegand, Joanne Genrich, John (Chris) Waldinger, Robert “Bob” (Pat) Waldinger, and Mary (Jim) Scholes; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jim Kreuzer.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Holy Name Catholic Church, 1104 South 9th Avenue, Wausau, with Rev. Woodrow Pace presiding. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, all at the church. Private burial will take place at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Newman Catholic Classical School at Holy Name.
