Ben L. Windorski

Ben "Big Ben" L. Windorski, 87, 1603 Cleveland Avenue, Wausau died Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau. He was born August 28, 1915 in Polonia, son of the late John and Susan (Bednarski) Windorski. He married Lorraine Neumann at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives. Ben worked for Connor Forest Industries prior to his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking and was a tinkerer who could take things apart, fix them, and put them back together. Ben was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army and before that was a head sawyer in Watersmeet, Mich. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Windorski, Wausau, four sons, Jerome Windorski, Decatur Windorski, Andrew Windorski, all of Wausau and William (Penny)Windorski, Mosinee; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; five brothers, Ray (Rose) Windorski, California, and Hubert (Marrt (Margaret) Windorski, Clarence (Shirley)Windorski and David (Janet) Windorski all of Wausau, Philip (Florence) Windorski, Schofield and Ray (Rose) Windorski, California; five sisters, Emma Brzezinski and Dorothy Nowitzkc both of Wausau, Sadie (Leonard) Gruna, Galloway and Wanda Davidowski and Florence Cherek both of Milwaukee; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons Richard and Robert Windorski, and two brothers, Ted and Daniel Windorski. The funeral mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2004 at The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. Rev. Joseph Gyim-Austin will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service Thursday, 7:00 p.m. at the sixth street funeral home. The family acknowledges the wonderful and special care given to "Big Ben" by his granddaughter, Crystal.
