Barbara F "Barbie" . Stein, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 13, 2025, under the care of Horizon Home Care & Hospice at Franciscan Place, Brookfield, WI.
She was born July 22, 1942, in Green Bay, daughter of the late Orville and Helen (VanDyck) Raymaker. She was raised in Wausau and was a graduate of Newman High School. On October 7, 1961, she married Larry Stein in Green Bay. They lived in various locations throughout the state of WI and spent 7 years in Glen Ellyn, IL.
Barbara worked for many years as a Dental Assistant and for Graebel Movers as a customer service representative in Wausau. She was a Religious Education Coordinator at St. Michael Catholic Church. Her faith and love for God guided her life and how she cared for those around her.
She enjoyed baking, playing piano, gardening, calligraphy and cross-stitching. Barbara and Larry loved to dance, specifically the jitterbug! Music and singing were a constant in her life. She even knew the 5th verse of many liturgical songs. Sports played an important role in her life, whether it was her cheering for her favorite teams (the Packers & Brewers) or for her favorite players (her children & grandchildren). Barbara loved taking care of others, especially her family.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Larry Stein; her children and their families; Mindy (Dean) Schinnerer, Cindy Hollmann, Tami (Marty) Rohr and Shelley (Mike) Hansen; Joseph (Carmen), Gloria, and Glenda Mitchell. Grandchildren; Luke, Nate, Tori (Casey), Lexi, Doris (Patrick), Michael, Kyle, Erika (Dylan), Jessa, Greta, Nick, Will, Caden, Kalani and Zora; great grandchildren Braeden, Tessa, Elena, Vivien and Grant; sister, June Heck, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Robert Heck.
Memorial services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2025 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 30th from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services all at the Sixth Street funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com
