Barbara A. Pyan

Barbara A. Pyan, 88, passed away Friday, August 28, 2026 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

She was born June 17, 1938, in Milwaukee, daughter of the late William and Regina (Kurszewski) Waraksa. On May 8, 1954, she married Duane Pyan at Holy Name Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on January 2, 2023.

Barbara enjoyed crafting and working on many creative projects, including making quilts, knitting mittens, counted cross-stitch, and crocheting. She also enjoyed word searches, scratch-off tickets, and fishing, especially with her favorite little orange jig.

Survivors include her daughters, Linda (Peter) Meyer, Connie (Jeffrey) Brodjeski and Gail (Richard) Dobrzynski; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, siblings, Jerome (Jan) Waraksa, Aaron (Shelby) Waraksa, Darlene Baranowski, Rita (Steve) Heinrich, Wayne (Ann) Waraksa, Geraldine (Jay) Jeske, Bill Waraksa, Dale (Wendy) Waraksa, Larry Waraksa and Mary Traska; many other relatives and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, Duane, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane (Jake) Jonas.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2026 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2026 at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
