Barbara L. Ortman

Barbara L. Ortman, 82, Athens, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Marshfield Medical Center, Marshfield.

She was born May 6, 1944 in Wausau, daughter of the late Klenka and Elva (Venzke) Hargraves. On June 13, 1964 she married Jack Ortman at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Milan. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2019.

Barbara was a proud homemaker and enjoyed the small things in life like playing solitaire on her iPad, enjoying crafts; especially making cabbage patch dolls and care bear dolls and spoiling her dogs. Barbara loved her grandchildren dearly and was fortunate enough to watch her grandson grow up since he was a baby.

Survivors include her children, John Ortman, Wisconsin Rapids, Joel Ortman, Wausau and Tammy Ortman, Athens, her loving grandchildren, Kasandra Lesieur, Wausau and Sequoia Miles, Athens. Barbara is further survived by her siblings, Chris (Roger) Heldt, Florida, Veronica (Ron) Wolf, Racine, Sherry Dissmore, Racine, Glenn (Cindy) Hargraves, Racine, Richard and Tommy Hargraves, both of Racine and Caryl Micetich, Chicago and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by and infant daughter, Vickie.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Milan. The Rev. Michael Mathey will officiate. Burial will be in Milan Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday, July 11, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens is in charge of arrangements.
