Barbara Ann (Salter) Appleyard

April 12, 1944 — February 7, 2025

Barbara Ann Appleyard, 80, of Wausau passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Friday February 7, 2025.

She was born April 12, 1944 in Wausau, Wisconsin. Barbara married, had three children and dedicated her life and love to her children and grandchildren.

Many of her best days were spent in Gillette Wyoming with friends she considered to be her family over the years. She enjoyed taking her camper and jet ski out to the lake every weekend, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

She moved back to Wausau, Wisconsin to care for her mother, Anna May Dehlinger. Following her mother's passing she continued her life in Wausau wIth her children and their families living nearby. The friendships she made in Wausau meant the world to her! She loved listening to Sunday morning polkas on the radio and would always have it on when she picked up her grandsons to spend a weekend morning with them. Weekend afternoons were spent with her good friends. Barbara worked at Kolbe Windows & Doors for over 15 years until her retirement, after which she took great pleasure in the flowers and flowerpots in her yard and on her porch. She loved to attract the hummingbirds.

Barbara Ann will be greatly missed by her three children, George, Michael, and Julie; four grandsons, Keifer, Joshua, Gavin, Mitchell; granddaughter, Brooke; and four great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Mayson, Karson and Ivy.

She is survived by four siblings, Francine Bickler, Jon Dehlinger, Donna Bittner and David Dettmering.  She was preceded in death her parents and brother, Robert Dettmering.

She will be greatly missed by her faithful and loving companion Tinkerbell, and many more loving friends and family.

A funeral service for close friends and family will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 1-2pm, at the Gilead Church located at 235131 Forest Lawn Rd. in Wausau WI.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com
