August Albert Stanke

October 13, 1931 — May 21, 2015

August Albert Stanke left this earth on May 21, 2015 to be with God and other family members. He was born on October 13, 1931, son of Peter and Lillian Stanke. He worked on the family farm and then moved to Milwaukee to work for several years. On August 9, 1952 he was called to serve his country in Korea. He received a medal of commendation and rank of Sergeant in the Artillery Division. He returned home to meet and marry Delores Heisler on August 27, 1955. She survives. They had four sons that survive, Guy (Vickie), Blain (Tammy), Keith (Deborah), and Rory. He worked several different jobs and retired from North Central Technical College in 1995. August enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and going to the cottage. He loved to watch the Wheel of Fortune and listen to the Polka show. He also loved to work in the woods and help anyone he could. He is further survived by seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, eight brothers and sisters. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Peter. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Rev. James Schafer will officiate. Friends may call on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services all at the Stewart Avenue funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com
