Audrey H. Rochon, age 82, Wausau, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Cedar Ridge Elder Services.
She was born May 16, 1931 in Wausau, daughter of the late William and Helen (Levandoski) Bloom. On August 6, 1952 she married Nicholas Rochon at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1998.
Audrey graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing in 1952. Upon returning from California where her and Nick lived and worked for several years, she worked at Stahmer Clinic and then CMMRC. She was a registered nurse for 45 years. Audrey will be remembered and loved by many for her cheerfulness and her sense of humor. After her retirement from nursing she worked for the Wisconsin Valley Library Service up until the age of 80.
She loved to bake for family and friends, her specialty being cherry berry dessert. Audrey enjoyed her occasional trip to the casino as well as her Sunday morning polka party on the radio. She always looked forward to her visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Bill (Denise) Rochon, San Dimas, California, Nicki (Tim) Grzesiak, Mosinee, and Anne Rochon, Weston; five grandchildren, Ryan (Norma) Johnson, Kelli (Dave) Larson, Kimberly and Andy Grzesiak, and Spencer Szutkowski; six great-grandchildren, Lydia, Isabelle, Owen, Greta, Sawyer and Mollie.
Besides her parents and husband, Nicholas, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Renee Johnson, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice (Lawrence) Narloch and Lorraine (Raymond) Miracle, and one brother, Howard Bloom.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
