Arvin F. Buchberger

June 8, 1925 — December 18, 2001

Arvin F. Buchberger 76, 4126 Co. Road B, Marathon, died Tuesday, December 18, 2001 at Wausau Manor Nursing Home. He was born June 8, 1925 in Marathon, son of Selma (Pyan) Buchberger, Wausau and the late Hugo Buchberger. On July 20, 1955, he married Mary Newmann at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Halder. She preceded him in death on December 29, 1993. He was US Army Veteran during the Korean War. Arvin was a diesel mechanic for Buetsch Implement, Marathon until the time of his retirement in 1987. He bowled for Lee's Hardware bowling team for many years. Arvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice skating, dancing, playing various musical instruments but mostly enjoyed being outdoors. Survivors include 2 daughters, Gail (Terry) McCarty and Diana (Richard) Holm all of Marathon; 3 sons, Glenn (Shari) Buchberger, Wausau, Daryl Buchberger, Marathon and Aaron (Lisa) Buchberger, Rothschild; mother, Selma Buchberger, Wausau; 8 Grandchildren; 3 sisters, Janet Cyzan, West Chicago, Joyce (Clarence) Hemmrich and Judy Brennan all of Wausau; 1 brother, Wallace "Bucky" Buchberger, Oconto. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2001 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a 5:00 p.m. parish vigil Friday evening at the Marathon funeral home.
