Arthur E. Seidl
86, Wausau, died Monday October 26, 2009 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born October 9, 1923, in Medford, son of the late Joseph and Louise (Deckelman) Seidl. On October 20, 1956, he married Conradine MacDonald at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. She survives.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army in the European Theatre including the Battle of the Bulge. In 1949, Art graduated with a degree in Horology from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. Art was the owner and operator of Seidl Jewelers in Wausau for almost 50 years specializing in watch, clock and jewelry repairs. He was a member of and officer in the Wisconsin Horological Society where he was known as one of the state's best watch repairmen.
A very active member of the Church of St. Anne, Art was involved in Eucharistic and Home Bound Ministries and as a Sacristan for many years. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, George Schreier Council No. 1069, Wausau and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Burns Post No. 388, Wausau. Art enjoyed gardening, traveling, baking bread & spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Connie, two daughters, Marcia (Cary) Kangas, Lakeville, Minn., Linda (Paul) Wagner, Wausau, four sons, Steven (Tina) Seidl, Wausau, Paul (Mary) Seidl, Hazelhurst, Mark (Pam) Seidl, Neenah, Kevin (Kim) Seidl, Rockton, Ill., grandchildren, Aaron, Joel (Jenny) and Bryan Kangas, Robert and Andrew Wagner, Madelyn and Hanna Seidl, Jenna and Timothy Seidl, Benjamin and Laura Seidl and Jordan and Morgan Seidl, one great granddaughter, Olivia, two sisters, Lucille Meyer and Betty Seidl, both of Medford, three brothers, James (Martha) Seidl, Medford, Richard (Dorothy) Seidl, Milwaukee and Thomas Seidl, Medford.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Rodehaver and three brothers, Joseph, Jerome and Ralph Seidl.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday October 31, 2009 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Church of St. Anne.
