Arthur W. Haynes

January 23, 1948 — June 12, 2026

Weston

Arthur “Art” Warren Haynes, 78, Weston, died Friday, June 12, 2026 at Marshfield Medical Center in Weston.

He was born January 23, 1948 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, son of the late Arthur and Arlene (Willard) Haynes. He moved to Orange County, California where he fell in love with the sun, sand and Carol Ann Miller, his sweetheart of nearly 55 years. They married on a sunny day in Garden Grove, California on August 11, 1973.

He was a dependable and committed employee of the California State Hospital system where he worked in facility operations, retiring after 40 years of service and relocating with Carol to Wisconsin. Early retirement afforded him the opportunity to spend time doing what he loved. He was an avid fisherman, with an impressive collection of over 300 fishing rods and reels and a story to go along with each. He also loved sports of every kind, but was a die-hard LA Dodgers fan and was looking forward to a three-peat World Series performance this October. He was coach for many youth sports teams and was a natural.

Art was a loving family man with a strong Christian faith. He received the Lord in his life in 1972, baptized in Pirates Cove in Corona Del Mar, California. He lived an honest life of hard work and generosity and will be remembered as someone who never met a stranger. He was not a man of few words and could talk your ear off, which made him even more endearing.

Survivors include, his wife of almost 53 years, Carol Haynes, Weston; two children, Dennis Russell, Gays Mills, Wisconsin and Melissa Haynes, St. Louis, Missouri; brother, David Haynes, Arizona; sister Shirley Kelley, Arizona; two sisters-in-law, Kathy Vanderhoof, Ogema and Eva Nichols, Wausau; numerous beloved nephews and nieces as well as his cats Scooter and Patches.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Nancy Bartlett and Skip Haynes.

A celebration of Arthur’s life will be held on Friday June 19, 2026 at Christ Community Church, 8100 Alderson Street, Schofield. Rev. Arnold Allison will officiate. Visitation will be at 10:00am with service following at 11:00 am at the church.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Pitch In For Baseball and Softball https://pifbs.org/ an organization supplying sports gear to youth sports teams in need.
