Arthur C. Connor
71, Rib Mountain, died Thursday, March 3, 2005 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born March 29, 1933 in Halder, son of the late John and Laura (Osterbrink) Connor. On October 18, 1958, he married Dolores Derks at St. Paul Catholic Church, Bloomer. She survives.
Art was a Korean War veteran of the United States Army. He was employed by the CENEX Co-op in Marathon (now Customer One), serving farmers and the communities throughout Marathon County for over 40 years. Art was a long-time member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Halder and was involved with the PTA, parish board, cemetery board, also as lector, parish trustee and Eucharistic minister. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, John F. Kennedy Council #5488, Mosinee for thirty-five years, currently as treasurer and in the past as Grand Knight. Art was also active in supporting 4-H activities.
His continuous love of sports included playing baseball in the Marathon County Baseball League, coaching 4-H softball and his most recent affection for golf, which included the Pine Valley Monday Senior Citizen League as well as enjoying a round of golf on vacation with his children and grandchildren.
Besides his wife of 46 years, Dolores Connor, Rib Mountain, survivors include his children, Patrick (Becky) Connor, Bloomington, Ind., and their children, Megan, Mollie and Erin; Julie (Michael) McComis, Port Washington, and their children, Michael Jr., Matthew and Kelley; Timothy Connor, St. Simons Island, Ga; Amy (Edward Jr.) Vaillancourt, Wausau and their son, Edward III; Sarah Connor, Baraboo; his sisters, Joan Londo, Little Chute and Rita (Mark) Kafka, Stratford; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Connor.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2005 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Robert Streveler and Deacon Robert Anderson will preside. Burial will be in Mosinee Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Veteran of Foreign Wars, Post #8733, Mosinee. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Ave., Wausau and from 10:00 a.m. Monday until the time of services at the church. There will be a Knights of Columbus memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday followed by a rosary service at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Wausau Hospital.
