Arnold M. Krautkramer Sr., 92, Marathon, died Thursday, March 20, 2014 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Marathon Assisted Living.
He was born October 18, 1921 in Marathon, son of the late Frank and Mary (Clair) Krautkramer. On August 20, 1946 he married Lorraine Hornung at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. She preceded him in death on October 13, 2009.
Arnold was a lifelong dairy and ginseng farmer who truly loved his farm. He was a gentle man with a beautiful smile who cherished time spent with his family, children, and grandchildren and enjoyed playing cards.
Survivors include his nine children, Arnold A. (Mary) Krautkramer, Marathon, Sheri (Dan) Lepak, Rib Mountain, John (Marie) Krautkramer, Wind Lake, Waine (Candy) Krautkramer, Stettin, Marvin (Beverly) Krautkramer, Rib Falls, George (Rhonda) Krautkramer, Wausau, Ronald (Shari Mews) Krautkramer, Rib Falls, Gary Krautkramer, Kronenwetter and Daniel (Kris) Krautkramer, Marathon; 27 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ivan Driscoll, Milwaukee, two sisters-in-law, Joan Boehm, Wausau and Mary Ann Hornung, Marathon; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, Lorraine, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Esther Krautkramer, Viola Driscoll and Mercedes Knauf, and four brothers, Jerome, Ray, Walter and Sylvester Krautkraemer.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
