Arlie E. Bukowski

Arlie E. Bukowski 91, Mosinee, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011 under the care of Asera Care Hospice at Acorn Hills, Mosinee. He was born February 17, 1920 in Rothschild, son of the late Peter and Stella Bukowski. In 1945, he married Elaine Britten and together had a son, Peter. She preceded him in death in 1963. In 1965, he married Rita Krause whose husband, Lawrence had passed away in 1960. That day, Arlie also added one daughter and four sons to his family. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2011. Arlie was a 1938 graduate of Wausau High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served from 1942 until 1945 in the European Theatre. Arlie was proud to be a charter member of the American Legion Roy Drew Post No. 492, Rothschild. For 42 years, he was employed with the Rothschild Papermill until his retirement. Survivors include, one son, Peter Bukowski, Madison; two granddaughters, Ann Bukowski, Chicago and Kate Bukowski, Washington D.C.; and five step children whom he helped raise and lovingly thought of as his own, Jane (Gary) Hudak, Maryville, Tenn., Larry (Jan) Krause, Mosinee, James (Laurel) Krause, Boscobel, Wis., Mark (Fran) Krause, Horicon, Wis. and David (Debra) Krause, Wausau. He was preceded in death by seven siblings, Walter Bukowski, Michael Bukowski, Lucy Heyman, Pearl Halkoski, Lillian Esker, Elsie Gajewski and Victoria Swinsick. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter, with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post No. 10, Wausau. Friends may call Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association. The family would like to thank the staff at Acorn Hills Senior Living Community in Mosinee, for all the extraordinary care Arlie and Rita received over the past few years.
