Arlene Powers

September 11, 1920 — March 12, 2005

Arlene Powers 84, Schofield, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, left this world on Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Kennedy Park Medical and Rehabilitation Center, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services, to be joined in the arms of our Lord. With our Lord, she will join her husband, Tom and daughter Sandra, both whom made this journey before her. She was born September 6, 1920 in Blackwell, Wis., daughter of the late Tom and Bea Nowak. She married Thomas Powers on June 29, 1940 in Wausau. Together, they raised eight loving children. Very often sacrifices were made to help their children, and was always done with loving care. Arlene was a wonderful wife, homemaker and most of all, mother. Her children have been very proud of the way she cared for them and kept the family together through all the good times and the bad times. And equally as proud of the way she has kept the family so close, even though children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are scattered throughout the states. Because of her generous spirit, her sons in law and daughters in law share in the same admiration. Her humor, compassion and genuine love will always be remembered and truly missed. Our love for you, mother, will go on for all eternity. Survivors include, seven children and sixteen grandchildren, Thomas and Karen (Spatz) Powers, Stevensville, Mont. and their children, Shawn, Kelly Ellis, Scott and Steve; James and Susan (Straub) Powers, Wausau and their children, David and Aaron ; Cynthia McLean, Colorado Springs, Colo. and her children Max and Bailey; Therese and Curt Meyers, Wilton, Wis. and their daughters, Alissa and Brittany; Mary and Michael Kolbeck, Schofield and their children, Morgan and Mason; Richard and Sharon (Kramer) Powers, Schofield and their children, Daniel and Becky; Peter and Angie (Mueller) Powers, Minneapolis, Minn. and their daughters, Caroline and Paige. She is also survived; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Patricia (Robert) Rucinski, Schofield; and one brother, Thomas Nowak, Michigan.. Patricia was a wonderful friend, devoted caregiver and dear sister for many years. Arlene was preceded in death by the love of her life, Thomas, who died April 11, 1984. Arlene's daughter, Sandra Johnson, Walker, Minn. preceded her in death in 1986, leaving her husband, Rod Johnson, daughter Sherri (Johnson) Smith and son Scott Johnson. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Tom and Bea Nowak and her brother, John Nowak. The funeral mass will be celebrated 5:00 p.m., Tuesday March 15, 2005 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Weston. Rev. Joseph Rafacz will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences at www.peterson/kraemer.com Dear Mother, may the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand. Your Children
