Arleen K.(Bungert) Butalla
Arleen Katherine (Bungert) Butalla, 81, formerly of 1010 Fourth Street, Marathon City, was carried to God's Eternal Presence on Friday afternoon, July 18, 2003, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital, with her loving family by her side.
Arleen was born on June 10, 1922 daughter of the late Raymond and Anna (Bedynek) Bungert in the Town of Cassel, Marathon County. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon City. On September 23, 1940 Arleen was united in marriage with Joseph A. Butalla at St. Mary Catholic Church. Joe preceded her in death on June 22, 1998. Their marriage was blessed with three sons: Gerald, James and Ronald.
Arleen took great pride in raising her sons to be loving, caring and honest husbands, fathers, grandfathers and friends. Having all three of her sons serve our country challenged her role as their loving mother.
Her church, husband, family and home were the source of joy in her life. Along with dancing, gardening, canning, traveling, playing cards, visiting with family, friends and neighbors, and watching generations of children gather in their driveway waiting for the bus, added to the happiness of her life.
Arleen is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Angeline (Lepak) Butalla of Big Bend, James and Coleen (Davy) Butalla, Butler, Ronald and Ruth Ann (Matthiae) Butalla, Schofield, 11 grandchildren, Tammy (Fred) Herrmann, Julie (Gary) Belman, Pamela (Scott) Kinzfogel, Sheri (David) Beres, Aaron, Renee, Jason (Heidi), Rick (Erika), Nicole, Rachel and Eric Butalla, 9 great grandchildren, Amanda, Heather, Jackie, Joseph Herrmann, Ashlee and Evan Belman, Brian Kinzfogel, Hunter Devine and Cole Butalla, one great great grandchild, Kayla Kidman. Arleen was anxiously awaiting the birth of another great grandchild.
