Anthony "Tony" Zychowicz
61, R461 CTH U, Edgar, entered into eternal life after a long battle with cancer on Sunday, January 25, 2004 under the care of Comfort Care & Hospice Service at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born May 28, 1942 in Milwaukee, son of the late Joseph and Roberta ( Louck) Zychowicz. On August 31, 1973, he married Charlene Ress in Waukegan, Illinios.
Tony was a veteran of the US Marines Corps, serving in Vietnam.
For 20 years, Tony was employed by Kolbe & Kolbe Millwork, Wausau and then was the owner/operator of the Tony & Charlene's Tavern, Poniatowski for the past 29 years. He will be remembered by his customers for all the smiles he brought to their faces and all the late nights talks he had with the ones that considered him to be a second father. Tony and Charlene enjoyed kicking up their heels at the County Fest or the Hodag and having a fun time gambling.
Besides his loving wife of 30 years, Charlene Zychowicz, Poniatowski includes three daughters, Linda Weiler, Poniatowski, Lisa Strasburg and JoWanda (Paul) Schug both of Athens; two sons, Christopher (Joleen) Zychowicz, Poniatowski and Harvey Pohlie, Wausau; nine grandchildren, Tonya & Daniel Hart, Poniatowski, Angel, Amber, Amanda, Bartlett, Kailey and Anthony Schug all of Athens and Paige Schmidt, Wausau; one great granddaughter, Siarra Hart; one sister, MaryAnn Graf, Wautoma; two brothers, Thomas (Kathy) Zychowicz, Milwaukee and Theodore (Linda) Zychowicz, Milwaukee; one uncle, John Zychowicz, Pewaukee and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother & father-in-law, Henry & Viola Ress and his son-in-law, Daniel Weiler.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 2004 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar and again from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of services at the church.
Tony will be remembered for the joy and love that he gave to his family especially his grandchildren. He will be gratefully missed and loved by all that knew him.
