Anthony "Tony" M. Bartishofski Sr.
97, Weston, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 Kennedy Park Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Weston.
He was born August 10, 1911 in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late Martin and Lena (Baron) Bartishofski. On June 22, 1946, he married Violet Dehnke in Melrose Park, Ill. She survives.
Tony served in the United States Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He drove truck for the former Wausau Concrete and retired from the City of Wausau after many years as a mechanic. Tony was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388, Wausau, a lifetime member of the Battle of the Bulge Club and The Last Man's Club, a member of the AFSME Retirees Union and a member of the Marathon County Gladiolas Society. Among his many interests, he enjoyed gardening and raising gladiolas for all the local florists.
Survivors include, his wife, Violet Bartishofski, Weston; one son, Anthony (Sandra) Bartishofski Jr., Tomahawk; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Gerald Bartishofski; and one daughter, Bernadette Studinski.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2008 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau with full military honors conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388, Wausau. Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
