Anna Metzdorf

Anna Metzdorf, 91, Wausau, died Monday November 3, 2003 at Wausau Manor Nursing Home. She was born November 12, 1911, in Athens, Wis., daughter of the late Henry and Wilhelmina (Vogl) Berghammer. On May 20, 1931 she married Arthur Metzdorf at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. He preceded her in death on November 8, 1992. Anna was a lifelong member of the former St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau and the Parish Council Of Catholic Women of the church. She was a homemaker, enjoyed spending time with her family, being outdoors at her cabin in the woods, card playing, gardening, polka music, knitting and crocheting for her family. Anna was a kind and loving person to all who knew her. Survivors include two daughters, Carmen (Robert) Schattl, Appleton, Bernell (Richard) Nowack, Wausau; five grandchildren, Rene' (Robert) Heimann, Appleton, Michael (Bonnie) Schattl, Appleton, Kelly (Gloria) Schattl, Kaukauna, Jeffrey (Kerri) Barwick, Kronenwetter and Pamela (Kelly) Schultz, Medford; eight great grandchildren, Matthew Heimann, John Heimann, Christopher Schattl, Katie Schattl, Cole Barwick, Cody Barwick, Abby Schultz and Emma Schultz; four step grandchildren, Sandra Nowack, Madison, Rick (Janis) Nowack, Custer, Cheryl Nowack, Egan, Minn., and Jody Nowack, Wausau; two step great grandchildren, April and Ashley Nowack; two sisters, Odelia Thorsen, Mosinee, Arlene Fiedler, Athens; and three sisters-in-law, Florella Berghammer, Wausau, Muriel Berghammer, Wausau and Betty Berghammer, Kenosha. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, John, Arthur, Ewald and Gilbert Berghammer; and one sister Della Shelley. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Rev Stephen Gross will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
