Angeline R. (Pospyhalla) Kurtzweil

December 31, 1936 — January 14, 2025

Rib Mountain

On January 14th, 2025, a cold but sunny winter day, our mom, Angeline (Angie) (Pospyhalla) Kurtzweil, took her last breath and entered her eternal life in heaven. She opened her eyes and walked into the loving arms of her husband, Edwin (Eddie) Kurtzweil, whom she missed for nearly seven years since his passing in 2018.

Born on December 31,1936, to her parents Louis and Hedwig Pospyhalla in the Edgar area, Angie graduated from Edgar High School. Not long after high school, at a local dance, Angie’s eyes locked onto the handsome marine, Eddie. Soon, they were married at Sacred Heart Church of Cassel on November 12, 1955. Angie was the wife of a dairy farmer, but just as important to her, she was the mother of five children, whom she raised to be strong, hard-working, but caring and compassionate adults, the values she felt were important for her own life and for her children.

Angie always cherished the time she spent with her children, and later with her grandchildren, when she could share her passion for cooking and baking, treating everyone with the delightful smell of the best, warm cinnamon rolls on Sunday mornings before church. She was talented with her sewing skills, and, as a young mother, could take a bolt of fabric and design three beautiful dresses for her three young girls. Over the years, Angie enjoyed growing and tending to her decorative flower gardens, along with a productive vegetable garden that provided the nutrition for her family. After a long day of work, she enjoyed sitting with a cup of coffee and reading the newspaper, keeping herself up to date on what was happening in the world. Most of all, she loved working side by side with Eddie, milking the cows every morning and night, and then, in later years, working in the ginseng gardens with him.

After they retired, they moved off the farm and built a house outside of Edgar where they continued to bring the family together for family events and enjoyed a more relaxed life. Now they had time for traveling, and they enjoyed visiting several U.S. destinations they hadn’t been to before. One sweet memory is the day when Mom called Bonnie to say they were going on a mystery trip. When she asked, “Where are you going?”, Mom cheerfully replied, ‘We don’t know, it’s a mystery!”

Angie was proceeded in death by her husband, Edwin, siblings, Walter Pospyhalla and Mary Lou Wisnewski and two grandsons, Travis and Trevor Kurtzweil.

Angie is survived by Bonnie (LeRoy Kostroski) Marschall, Weston, Lynn (Bob Quaderer) Reger, Rib Mountain, Donna (Dan King) Lund, Austin, TX, Karl (Laurie) Kurtzweil, Edgar, Dale (Linda) Kurtzweil, Edgar; grandchildren, Ashley Marschall, Ryan Reger, Callie Reger, Connor and Jaxson Kurtzweil; great-grandchildren, Anthony and Camille Reger; siblings, Grace (Richard) Wirkus, Edgar, and Lyle (Margie) Pospyhalla, Stratford.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated on January 23rd, 2025, at 12 Noon at St. John’s Catholic Church, Edgar. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 am at St. John’s Catholic Church prior to the service.
