Andrew A. "Andy" Hornung
59, Marathon, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at his home, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born November 17, 1950 in Marathon, son of the late George and Katherine (Volhard) Hornung. On September 8, 1973, he married Sandra McCandless at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. She survives.
Andy worked for Packaging Tape Inc. until his retirement. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed woodworking and playing cards. He also spent many hours working with his family in their ginseng gardens.
Survivors include, his wife of 36 years, Sandy Hornung, Marathon; three children, Jeremy (Kristie) Hornung, Ringle, Nicole (Brandon) Skrzypchak, Marathon and Steffanie (Ben) Salber, Marathon; five grandchildren, Charlotte Hornung, Piper and Ripley Skrzypchak, Bridget and Grant Salber; his mother-in-law, Opal McCandless, Marathon; three siblings, Katherine (Jack) Krautkramer, Marathon, Norm (Lynne) Hornung, Marathon and Diane (Roger) Dittmann, Mosinee; and many relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Hornung; and one niece, Sheila Hornung.
The memorial mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Friends may call Friday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until services all at the church.
