Alvin O. Wilde
89, Wausau, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at home surrounded by his family.
He was born May 27, 1920 in Rib Falls, son of the late Lydia Wilde. On June 9, 1948 he married Irma Baumann at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives.
Alvin worked at American Can for over 33 years. He was a caring husband who loved his family dearly and looked forward to family activities with them. He was his own mechanic and handyman, always fixing something. Some of his hobbies included fishing, feeding and watching the birds and doing word puzzles. He also enjoyed watching Brewers and Packer games.
Survivors include his wife, Irma, Wausau; 11 children, Mary (Larry) Rydell, Green Bay, Fredrick (Kathryn) Wilde, Wausau, Thomas (Patti) Wilde, Lake Tomahawk, Carla Carpenter, Wausau, Barbara Wilde, Austin, Texas, Steven (Diane) Wilde, Weston, Catherine (Howard) Altillis, Annandale, Virg., John Wilde, Wausau, Robert (Monica) Wilde, Wausau, Kevin Wilde, Ashburn, Virg. and Jane (Scott) Weber, Potomac Falls, Virg; 19 grandchildren, Tony (Christine) Rydell, Minneapolis, Minn., Aaron Rydell, Montrose, Colo., Shawn (Heather) Wilde, Weston, Terry Wilde, Madison, Erik and Ann Wilde, both of Wausau, Amy (Matt Haeger) Wilde, Wausau, Erin (Kurt) Yusten, Weston, Leigh Carpenter, Wausau, Adam Wilde, Dallas, Texas, Michael Glidewell, Austin, Texas, Jason (Jamie ) Wilde, Marshfield, Joseph, James and Justin Wilde, all of Weston, Isaac Wilde, Wausau, Chelsea, Abigail and Dylan Weber, all of Potomac Falls, Virg.; 4 great grandchildren, Megan and Alex Wilde, Lucas Haeger and Carson Wilde.
Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Henry, sister, Loretta, grandson, Andrew, son-in-law, Bruce Carpenter, daughter-in-law, Susan Wilde-Harn, sister-in-law, Adelia Jackson and brothers-in-law, Charles, Ubald and Alex Jr. Baumann.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2009 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau and again on Friday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services at the church.
