Alois J. Schueller
85, Wausau, died Sunday, June 24, 2007 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born April 8, 1922 in the town of Milan, son of the late Louis and Clara (Braun) Schueller. On June 24, 1947, he married Alvina Novitzke at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cassel. She preceded him in death on November 22, 1989.
Alois was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. For many years, Alois worked as a carpenter for Schueller Construction, Edgar and later retired from the former Weston Homes. He was a charter member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau, a member of the Third Degree Knights of Columbus Sacred Heart Council #4628, Schofield, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388, Wausau, the American Legion Sawyer-Drumm Post #393, Edgar for 35 years, the Gold Chevron Order for 45 consecutive years and the Moose Lodge.
Among his many interests, he enjoyed polka dancing, attending church picnics and gardening.
Survivors include, one daughter, Shelley (Dan) Vachowiak, Wausau; three grandsons, Aaron (Shantel) Vachowiak, Eau Claire, Tyler (Connie) Vachowiak, Wausau and Kyle (Susan) Vachowiak, Chippewa Falls; nine great grandchildren, Cade, Lexis, Jenna, Ethan, Aidan, Brennen, Gavin, Devin and Mason; three brothers, George (Dolores) Schueller, Edgar, Oliver (Helen) Schueller, Athens and Larry (Sandra) Schueller, Edgar; four sisters, Dorothy Schueller, Marie Krause, Agnes Adamski and Jeannie (Ronald) Heidmann, all of Edgar; special friend, Lucille Seavers; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, Alvina, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Sylvarious and Victor Schueller.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2007 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Entombment will follow at the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, with full military honors conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Burns Post #388, Wausau. Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
There will be a prayer service Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Grace Laynes and Sharon and Sandy, along with the rest of the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Aspirus Wausau Hospital for the care and support given to Alois and his family during his illness.
