Allen J. King, 88, 208 Duenow Street, Athens, died Saturday, June 22, 2002 at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield.
Allen was born September 26, 1913 in Edgar, son of the late Dominic & Sophia (Burger) King. He married Irene Murkowski on September 2, 1935, in Redondo Beach, California. She survives.
Allen farmed in the town of Medford and he also was employeed with Hurds Millwork, Medford. Traveling out west to Colorado and Wyoming, as well as hunting, fishing and gardening were among his favorite things to do.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters Gloria Drewek, Athens, Carol (Robert) Schultz, Nashotah; six grandchildren, Dennis (Darlene) Drewek, Lynette (Ray) Brunke, Diane (Tom) Saindon, Carla (Wade) Leonhardt, Jeanne (Scott) Herman, Lisa Schultz; 12 great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Ray Metzdorf, Marshfield.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters; one son-in-law, Robert Drewek.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in Athens cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, from 4-8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, and again on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
There will be a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., Tuesday at the Athens funeral home.
