Allen J. Gallenberg
60, Antigo, died unexpectedly Saturday August 19, 2006 in Wausau.
He was born November 21, 1945 in Antigo, son of the late Theodore and Florence (Pavel) Gallenberg. Al was a graduate of Deerbrook Grade School and a 1963 graduate of Antigo High School. In 1967, he graduated from the University of Stevens Point and in 1968 graduated from the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science.
A lifelong resident of Langlade County, Al had been employed by the Bradley Funeral Home, Antigo from 1968 until 2000. He currently served the communities of Wausau, Marathon, Edgar and Athens as a Funeral Director with the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Homes. Among his many involvements, Al was a member and current Financial Secretary for the Third Degree Knights of Columbus, Msgr. Conrad Saile Council No. 1002, Antigo, a member and Past Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Msgr. Conrad Saile Assembly No. 1214, Antigo, was a member of the Antigo Community Theatre, serving as past secretary, served as treasurer of the Colhome Association from 1986 until 1999 and served as a Board Member since 1986. He was active in his church, serving as a communion distributor, usher and was a member of the first Diocesan Lay Ministry class. He was an avid collector of model trains.
Survivors include his daughter, Jillian Kelly Gallenberg, Douglas, Wyoming, a paternal aunt, Mildred Woinowski, a maternal aunt, Irene Hitt, a niece, Susan Matson, a nephew, Theodore Gallenberg and other nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Weds. August 23, 2006 at SS. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church, Antigo. Rev. Jeremiah Worman will preside. Burial will be in the St. Wencel Cemetery, Neva. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at SS. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church, Antigo and on Weds. from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a Knights of Columbus and parish rosary service Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the church.
