Allen "Al" Falkowski

Allen “Al” Lee Falkowski, 60, Town of Marathon passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2026, as the result of a motorcycle accident.

Allen began his working career with Gavin in the Parts Department. It wasn't long before he discovered that he had a natural talent and genuine enjoyment for building and creating things with his hands. That passion led him to work for Walter Buchkowski Building and F&F Builders, followed by Wausau Roofing and Siding. Eventually, Al started his own business, ALF's Seamless Siding, and remained self-employed while also subcontracting for other builders. He took great pride in his work and in the skills he had developed throughout his career.

One of Al's greatest passions from a very young age was motorcycles. He had numerous dirt bikes over the years, and by the time he was in seventh grade, he was riding his dirt bike to school. He started out with Kawasakis before discovering his love for Yamahas. One of his most prized motorcycles was his Yamaha 50th Anniversary R1, which amazingly survived his house fire. At the time of his passing, Al owned 14 motorcycles.

Al was also well known for his athleticism and love of competition. He played softball in leagues Sunday through Thursday and spent many many weekends traveling to tournaments. Later, he discovered a love for volleyball. He became a familiar face on numerous courts and at open nights at Wiggly. As the years went on, Al began refereeing volleyball and mentoring younger players, sharing his knowledge and love of the sport with a new generation.

His love of motorcycles eventually led him to the Wausau Cycle Club, where he helped organize rides and enjoyed being part of the motorcycle community. He loved getting out on the road, seeing new places and, most of all, sharing those experiences with others.

Al also had a tremendous love for live music. He traveled all across the state to see bands and listen to live music. He was always up for an adventure. At one point, he even custom-built a camper to pull behind his motorcycle so he could travel longer distances to see bands and simply spend the night wherever the road took him.

Al was never one to blend into the crowd. He was known for his flashy clothes, colorful wraps on his motorcycles and cars, and his unmistakable style. He lived life in his own way and wasn't afraid to stand out.

Al certainly knew how to enjoy life. He loved beaches, jet skiing, downhill skiing, snowmobiling, and countless other adventures (snowmobiling on the river). His passion for snowmobiles took him far beyond Wisconsin. He spent months in Alaska testing snowmobiles for Yamaha as a test pilot. He later traveled across the country with Yamaha, giving people the opportunity to test ride new snowmobiles.

His involvement in racing and snowmobiling brought him some incredible experiences. Al was part of several pit crews at Speed Week in Daytona with Steve Kaston, and one of those experiences even landed him on ESPN, where he was featured helping push Steve through the mud to get out of the pit. He also served as pit chief for Al Fenhaus, helping him achieve a victory at the Eagle River World Championship.

Those who knew Al will remember many things about him, but perhaps one of the first things that comes to mind is his smile — or, as some would describe it, his unmistakable smirk or smart-a** smile. It was part of who he was and often said more than words ever could.

Al had a unique way of being both private and incredibly social. He could keep parts of himself close and wasn't always one to share everything, yet he also had a remarkable ability to connect with people. Whether he was on a motorcycle ride, a volleyball court, at a concert, on the snowmobile trail, at a race or simply enjoying time with friends, he was known, recognized and remembered.

For all of Al's adventures, hobbies and busy life, family remained an important part of who he was. He faithfully attended Sunday dinners with his Mom, who recently passed away, and those times together were something he treasured. He also made an effort to be present for family gatherings, holidays and special occasions. Al was especially proud to be an uncle and enjoyed being there for his nieces and nephews as they reached important milestones in their lives. Whether it was a graduation, birthday, holiday, or another special family moment, Al made memories by simply being there. His presence at these occasions was a reminder that, beneath his adventurous and sometimes private personality, family mattered deeply to him.

Al lived a life full of adventure, competition, hard work and friendship. He followed the things he loved, built things with his own hands and made memories wherever he went.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, teammates, fellow riders, coworkers and all of the many people whose lives he touched along the way.

Survivors include two siblings, Karen (Monty Behreandt) Frederick and her family, Kullen Patterson, Kamron Vogt and Keela Coppersmith and her children Liam, Caleb and Sadie, and Leon (Jennifer) Falkowski and their children, Hunter and Alex; Aunts and Uncles, Petie (Millie) Dittbrender, Ted Dittbrender, Linda (Randy) Ostrowski, June Dittbrender and Donna Dittbrender.

Besides his parents Joey & Janet, he was preceded in death by three uncles, Gary, Roger and Sport Dittbrender.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Easton.
