Allan D. Oelke

Allan D. Oelke, 76, Wausau, died Monday, August 17, 2015 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born June 12, 1939 in Wausau, son of the late Norman and Verna (Hintz) Oelke. On December 6, 1986, he married Mary (Kersemeier)Schuster at Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wausau. She survives. Allan worked for Wausau Homes and John Ohrmundt Construction Company for over 30 years, until he retired at the age of 64. He was a longtime member of the Rib Mountain Bowmen, where he received numerous awards and recognition. He was an avid fly fisherman and hand tied hundreds of flies over the years. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed bow hunting, collecting stamps, puzzles, reading and watching the Green Bay Packers. He had a great love for cats, especially his constant companion, "Miracle". In his younger years, he was very proud to have earned the title of "Grant Elementary School Marble Champ". Allan had a great sense of humor and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include, his wife, Mary Oelke, Wausau; three children, Jeffrey (Denise King) Oelke, Hatley, Tara Meier, Eagle River and Chad (fianceAC. Elizabeth White) Schuster, Wausau; five grandchildren, Zachary, Isaiah, Alexandria, Logan and Joshua; two great-grandchildren, Emmett and Aiden; one brother, Rick (Mary Ann) Oelke, Wausau; two brothers-in-law, Donald (Mary) Kersemeier, Arlington Heights, Illinois and James Kersemeier, Madison; one sister-in-law, Patricia (Jim) Oistad, Schofield; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Kurth; and an infant daughter, Leslie. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Robert M. Edwards will officiate. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Friday from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
