Allan P. Dreikosen
68, Marathon, passed away Friday June 27, 2003 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.
He was born October 18, 1934 in the town of Cassel, son of the late Norbert and Marcella (Lepak) Dreikosen. On October 27, 1952 he married Rose Marie Blume at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. She survives.
Allan worked many jobs including Deininger's Citgo, Lohr's Furniture and Funeral Home, St. Mary Parish and the Village of Marathon Water & Sewer Department. He played baseball and softball for many years and was one of the top home run hitters in the area, earning him the nickname "Steer". He enjoyed watching the Packers, gardening, tending his apple trees, fishing, playing sheepshead, hunting and playing with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, Rosie, he is survived by his children, John (MaryKay) Dreikosen, Marathon, and their children, Craig, Mark, Keith and Kurt; Sandy (Steve) Atkinson, Knoxville, Tenn.; Sue (Steve) Olson, Dubuque, Iowa and their children, Stephanie, Nicholas and Andrew; Mary (Steve) Lang, Holmen, and their children, Ben and Sarah; Jim Dreikosen, Wausau and his child, Dana; Norbert (Nancy) Dreikosen, Wausau and their children, Nathan and Noah; Donna (Randy) Butalla, Marathon and their children, Amanda and Max; Lee (Lynn) Dreikosen, Merrill and their child, Zoey, seven sisters, Joyce Huhnstock, Rhinelander, Georgine Mangold, Cedarburg, Mary Lou Klinkosh, Waterford, Sister Marcella Marie Dreikosen, LaCrosse, Rita (Michael) Thompson, Mesa, Ariz., LaVonne (Martin) Wieloch, Mosinee, Valaria (Charles) Miller, Mich., and three brothers Larry (Isabelle) Dreikosen, Marshfield, Wallace (Sonya) Dreikosen, Libertyville, Ill., and Del (Marge) Dreikosen, Grafton.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cindy, a grandson, Travis, a sister, Carolyn and a brother, Marcel.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday June 30, 2003 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
