Alice M. Tetzlaff

Alice M. Tetzlaff 84, 804 Stark St., Wausau, died Thursday, December 11, 2003 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital following a short illness with her family at her side. She was born June 6, 1919 in Wausau, daughter of the late Walter J. and Mary (Stiber) Klimek. On August 24, 1940, she married William W. Tetzlaff at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1999. Alice was a graduate of Wausau High School & Marathon County Normal School. She was a homemaker and after her children were grown, taught grade school in a one-room classroom, then in the 1960's at St. Michael Catholic School, St. Anne Catholic School and several other Catholic schools in the area. She was a charter member of the Rosary Confraternity, member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women and Circle 7 at St. Michael Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies, Catholic Woman's Club, Wausau, and the Milwaukee Railroad Women Club. Alice was active in the PTA, the Annual Stunt Nights and the Girl Scouts. She supported all of her children's activities and was very proud that her six children were graduates of Newman High School. Alice was a lifelong member of St. Michael Catholic Church and her determination, strong will and sense of humor never diminished. Survived by her six children, Robert "Bob" (Arlove) Tetzlaff, Pulaski and their children, Todd (Lissette) Tetzlaff, Menominee, Michigan, Troy (fiancAC., Carrie Hoogland) Tetzlaff, Pulaski; Mary (James) Kornowski, Wausau and their son, Karl (Michelle) Kornowski, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; Karen (Kurt) Holm, Neenah and their children, Sara Jungen & Christian Holm; George R. (Jackie) Tetzlaff, Weston and their children, Brian Tetzlaff, Rothschild, Curtis Tetzlaff, Minneapolis, Minn., Tami J. Tetzlaff, Oshkosh; twin daughters, Jane (David) Runzheimer, Wausau; Jean (Larry) Wargowsky, Necedah and their children, Aaron & Anna; three great grandchildren, Ryan, Marissa and Kristina Tetzlaff, Menominee, Michigan; two sisters, Dorothy Hughes, Wisconsin Rapids and Margaret Baken, Neenah; four sisters-in-law, Helen Klimek, Williamsburg, Virginia; Dorothy Pabst and Lucille Tetzlaff, both of Wausau and Lois Tetzlaff, Weston; a brother-in-law, Robert Marcell, Wausau; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Allison Kornowski; five brothers, Roman, Carl, Vence, Henry & George Klimek; four sisters, Anna & Irene Klimek, Evelyn Juedes and Marion Marcell. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2003 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch, Rev. Jerome Gerum and Rev. Thomas McInnis will preside. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 sixth St., Wausau and again from 10:00 a.m. Monday until time of the services at the church. There will be a combined parish, PCCW and Rosary Confraternity rosary Sunday evening at the Sixth Street funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
