Alice B. Knetter
88, Wausau, died Friday June 17, 2011 at the Hospice House, Wausau.
She was born April 7, 1923, in the town of Emmet, daughter of the late Albert and Lily (Leffel) Ewert. On June 24, 1944, she married Alex James Knetter at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, town of Cassel. He preceded her in death October 9, 1992.
Prior to her retirement, Alice had been employed for many years as a sales associate at J.C. Penney. Among her many interest, she enjoyed gardening and reading.
Survivors include four children, Thomas Knetter, Wausau, Terrance Knetter, Wausau, Sandra Thompson, Burnsville, Minn., Pamela (Roger) Norton, Eagan, Minn., seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one sister, Lorraine Hilgemann, Wausau.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Knetter, one grandson, Cade Norton, a son-in-law, Clifford Thompson, and seven siblings, Mae Ewert, Ralph "Sam" Ewert, Myrtle "Sis" Krause, Edna Novitzke, Bertha "Lottie" Aschebrook, Harold Ewert and Earl Ewert.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday June 21, 2011 at The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. Rev. Norman Boneck will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association or Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.
