Alice A. Andreas, 78, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2025, under the care of Interim Hospice at her home.
She was born January 15, 1947, in Wausau, daughter of the late William and Lillian (Nowitzke) Kortbein. On July 8, 1967, she married Jerald “Jerry” Andreas at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau, and he preceded her in death on September 3, 2000.
Alice met Jerry while working at Herberger’s in Wausau. Family was always her top priority, and she never missed an opportunity to attend her children’s and later her grandchildren’s activities and events. She enjoyed dancing, tending to her yard and garden, playing cards, especially cribbage and sheepshead. She also enjoyed putting together puzzles, doing word searches, creating crafts and photography.
Survivors include her daughters, Laurie (Ken Knudsen) Andreas and Margie Andreas; grandchildren, Mickayla (Narcizo) Portilla Andreas, Shane (Angela) Ashton, Brandi (Seth) Crawford, Shawn Andreas, Kassia (Kolby) Schmidt-Andreas, Jason Knudsen and Tyler (Katey) Knudsen; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Christine Cherek, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Jerry, she was preceded in death by a son, Bill, siblings, John, Cecilia, and Vera and a nephew, Frank Cherek.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2026, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Sebastian Kolodziejczyk will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Ave., Wausau and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau.
