Alfred L. Kurth

Alfred L. Kurth 78, H8151 Sunrise Road, Wausau, died Friday January 9, 2004 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. He was born December 23, 1925 in the town of Easton, son of the late Richard and Hertha Kurth. On September 19, 1953 he married Elizabeth Stolze at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Wausau. She survives. For over 40 years, Alfred and Liz farmed in the town of Easton on the Kurth Homestead where he was born and raised. He semi-retired in 1994, passing the family farm to his son, Doug and family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, birdwatching and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. A life member of Zion Lutheran Church, Alfred attended school there and continued through the years with involement in various church positions including, Chairman, Elder and Bell Ringer. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Kurth, Wausau, his children, Dick (Carol) Kurth, Aniwa, and their children, Leslie and Jonathan; Steve Kurth, Wausau, and his children, Nicole and Matthew; Doug (Barb) Kurth, Wausau, and their children, Melissa, Joseph and Tyler; Ron (Sue) Kurth, Wausau, and their family, Ryan and Nicholas; Lisa (Jeff) Zahrt, Aniwa, and their family, Joshua, Anna and Rachel; a sister-in-law, Ruth Kurth, Wausau. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Verna Swendsen and two brothers, Elmer and Oscar Kurth. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday January 13, 2004 at Zion Lutheran Church, E7195 Star Road, Aniwa. Rev. Mark Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
