Alfred "Al" Kreil
84, 1414 Jelinek Ave., Weston, died Sunday October 9, 2005 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born May 1, 1921 in Wausau, son of the late William and Victoria (Skarwecki) Kreil. He was a veteran of the US Army in World War II, stationed in Panama.
Prior to his retirement, Al had been employed for 33 years by the Marathon County Highway Department. Among his favorite pastimes were bowling, baseball, golfing, being outdoors and participating in St. Michael's Dartball League. He enjoyed most of all, spending time with Austin and Felicia. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.
Survivors include a sister, Doris (Lawrence) Winchell, Elcho; his great niece, Marcie Steger, Schofield and her children Austin and Felicia Krejci; seven nieces and nephews, Gail (Mike) Wright, Chuck (Janet) Heisler, Pat Heisler, Steve (Jill) Winchell, John (Lynn) Winchell, Jeff (Valerie) Winchell and Brian Winchell; his cousin, Autumn Kinney; and many great nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Kreil and Marcella Heisler.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday October 13, 2005 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in the St. Michael Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388. Friends may call Weds. from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Thurs. from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 6:00 p.m. Weds. evening at the Sixth Street funeral home.
