Alex F. Vetter

Alex F. Vetter 93, formerly of Beaver Dam and Marathon, died Monday December 24, 2001 at Marywood Convalescent Center, Wausau. He was born May 21, 1908 in Marathon, son of the late Jacob and Augusta (Lemmer) Vetter. On July 29, 1935 he married Mona Trochinski in Wheaton, Minn. She preceded him in death on Jan. 21, 1995. The Vetters moved to Beaver Dam in 1948 and Alex served as principal of Lincoln Elementary School for 26 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Beaver Dam Knights of Columbus, the Dodge County Retired Teachers Association and had been awarded the Silver Beaver Award in Boy Scouting. Alex and Mona loved square dancing and were members of the Swinging Beavers Square Dance Club. They also enjoyed camping and had traveled world-wide. Survivors include one son, James (Marilyn) Vetter, 611 4th St., Hudson, Wisc. 54016-1640 formerly of Portage; three step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Esther Vetter, Marathon and Lucita Johanson, Wheaton, Minn., three special nieces and their families, Jackie Lemanski, Marathon, Irene (Chet) Hoffman, Mosinee, Sandy (Laverne) Lang, Marathon, many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by four sisters, Isabella Lang, Priscilla Aberwald, Elizabeth Ritger and Mary Vetter, six brothers, Hugo, Rudolph, Bruno, Mark, Matthew and Jacob. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday Dec. 29, 2001 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Marathon funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association or to the charity of your choice.
