Alex A. Lang 83, Marathon died Saturday, March 02, 2002 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Wellington Place, Wausau. He was born April 6, 1918 in Marathon, son of the late Henry Sr. and Helen (Sanders) Lang. Alex was a caretaker and ski lift operator at Rib Mountain State Park until the time of his retirement in 1974. He enjoyed working on cars and tractors. Survivors include 1 sister, Marie Karlen, Wausau; 2 brothers, Fred (Lillian) Lang and Henry Jr. (Adeline) Lang all of Marathon; 1 brother-in-law, Roman Kurtzweil, Wausau and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Alex was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Helen Kurtzweil and Florence Kurtzweil. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service at 7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may directed to St. Mary Church or St. Mary School, Marathon.
