Albert "Al" B. Filtz Jr., 67, Schofield, died Monday, October 19, 2015 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born May 28, 1948 in Stevens Point, son of the late Albert Sr. and Julia (Bogusiewicz) Filtz. On November 27, 1976, he married the love of his life Mary Sue Trierweiler at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives.
Al was proud to have spent his career as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. After graduating high school he joined the Army National Guard where he served in the transportation division. Al retired in 2005 from the Marathon County Highway Department.
Among some of his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Sue Filtz, Schofield; his son, Christopher Filtz, Wausau; his son from a previous marriage, Andrew Filtz, Fond du Lac; his brother, Michael (Maree) Filtz, Australia; and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends further survive.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. The family requests casual attire.
