Agnes Springer, 96, of Wausau passed into transition on June 14th, 2012 at Walnut Grove under the comfort and care of the assisted living home staff and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. Born November 18, 1915 in Peoria, Illinois to the late Reinhard and Louise (Volz) Boehle.
She was preceded in death by husband, George Springer, and siblings: Rhinehard Jr. (Irene), Norbert (Antoinette), Elmer, and Joseph (Alice), Anna Boehle, Mary (Edward) Roger, and Helen (Willard) Nave.
Survivors include one sister: Marcella Zant, Peoria, IL; her children: Melvin (Eugenia) Springer, Merrill, WI; Michael (Lluvia) Springer, Lyndon Station, WI; Marianne (Harvey) Bolssen, Dale, WI; Martin (Michiko) Springer, Menomonie, WI; Maureen (George) Ankele, Poplar Grove, IL; Mark (Joan) Springer, Rockford, IL; Matthew (Donna) Springer, Capron, IL; Myrna Springer, Madison, WI; Margorie (Daniel) Southworth, Aniwa, WI; Marlon (Denise) Springer, Aniwa, WI; 30 grandchildren including step-grandchildren, numerous great and great step-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her experience on her parent's fruit and vegetable farm taught her the importance of frugal living and how one's life could be affected, in the name of progress, by construction of a major highway which split the property.
She married George F. Springer on Jan. 7, 1939. Together they raised ten children, all with first names starting with M. Agnes enjoyed gardening, card playing, reading, and learning about vitamins and natural foods. She was involved with St. Boniface Catholic Church in Aniwa and was active with the National Farmer's Organization during the 1960's. She left her small dairy farm in the late 70's to live in Wausau where she continued to babysit grandchildren and sell Shaklee products for several years, eventually moving into what is now the Walnut Grove Assisted Living Home, where she resided until the time of her death.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2012 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
