Agnes McMullen
83, 500 Grand Avenue, Wausau, died Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born June 2, 1924 in Glandon, Wis., daughter of the late Anton and Sophia (Klesewic) Wodalski. On October 29, 1954, she married John Bolter McMullen in Pine City, Minn. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1956.
Agnes' face may look familiar to you. For most of her life, she worked with the public in food service. She was a waitress for the former Happy's CafAC., Wausau, the former Schroeder Hotel, now known as the Landmark Building and the Wausau VFW. Agnes also enjoyed working countless weddings and banquets. Later, she worked in the cafeteria at Wausau Insurance Company and the former Pine Bar Restaurant.
Agnes was a very active member of St. Michael Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters Court of St. Rose and the Secular Franciscans.
Among her many interests, she enjoyed growing her own vegetables. For many years, she tended a huge garden plot and canned her harvest for use over the winter. Even when she lived at the Riverview Towers, she managed a few pole beans and a tomato plant.
Survivors include, her daughter, Celia McMullen, Wausau; her sister, Vicki (Jim) Falk, New London and her brother, John Wodalski, Cosby, Tenn.
Besides her parents and husband, John, she was preceded in death by one sister, Josephine and one brother, Adam.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Entombment will be in the Holy Angels Mausoleum, St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services all at the Sixth Street funeral home.
