Agnes A. Bonin
86, Athens, formerly of Calumet City, Ill. passed to our Gracious Lord on Monday, July 28, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield.
She was born November 23, 1921 in the town of Reitbrock, daughter of the late John Lenard and Mary (Pajak)(Handlosky) Lenard. On September 30, 1944 she married Leo Adam Bonin in Poniatowski. He preceded her in death on August 7, 2004.
Agnes was employed in various positions in Calumet City and was a clerk at Walgreens before going into factory work where she retired from Fiskars Corp. Agnes lived a long and joyful life. She treasured her time spent with her family and friends and she will be missed dearly. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens where she sang in the church choir and was a member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters. She enjoyed playing cards, especially sheephead with the Athens Senior Group, 500 Club and her children and grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes included gardening, fishing and reading, especially the newspaper on the front porch. She cherished being with her children and grandchildren at her cabin that she and her husband shared for 40 years.
Survivors include her six children, Leo (Linda) Bonin, Freeport, Ill., Jeanne Cengel, Hammond, Ind., Constance Bonin, Athens, James (Joan) Bonin, Olympia, Wash., Gloria (William) Kiechle, Sparta and Thomas (Lynn) Bonin, Highland, Ind.; 11 grandchildren, Leo, Melanie, Sarah, Julie, James, Jenny, Bill, Renee', Becky, Jason and Peter; 13 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Irene (Lenard) Klimpke.
Besides her parents and husband, Leo, she was preceded in death by 12 siblings, Edwin Lenard Sr., Joseph Lenard, Victoria Drewek, Rose Fields, Marian Anderson, Steven Lenard, Louis Lenard, Joseph Handlosky, Mae Krolak, Francis Handlosky, Stella Nowicki, Angeline Gesicki.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2008 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. The Very Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Poniatowski. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and again on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a prayer service on Wednesday 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
