William A. Rader

William Rader William Rader, 89, Wausau, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at Colonial Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau. He was born April 2, 1915, in Marathon to the late William and Grace (Karlen) Rader. On June 17, 1940, he was united in marriage to Ernestine Vetter at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marathon. He and Ernestine farmed in the town of Cassel and the town of Marathon from 1940 until 1972. He served on the local Buchanon School Board as Clerk before its consolidation with the Marathon School District in 1947. He was also on the Board of Directors for the Marco Farmers Union Cooperative in Marathon for many years. He consistently received awards for meeting the highest standards of milk production in his farming career. After selling the farm in 1972, he and Ernestine moved to Marathon where he worked for Menzner Lumber and Supply until 1983. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, woodworking and traveling abroad during his retirement years. He was a member of Catholic Orders of Foresters, St. Leo Court No. 795. Survivors include his wife, Ernestine; three sons and their spouses, Dennis and Lavon Rader of Green Bay, Robert and Tori Rader of DePere, and Don and Judy Rader of Brea, Calif.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rudolph (Margie) Rader, Wausau, and Jerome (Maryann) Rader, Schofield; and one sister, Joan (George) Chojnowski, Tinley Park, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Joseph, Herbert, Clarence and Erwin; and one sister, Marie Rader Boehm. The funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marathon. The Rev. Joseph Diermeier officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Marathon. Friends may call from 8 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences at www.petersonkraemer.com. William's family would like to thank all friends, neighbors and family members in the Marathon and Wausau area who have assisted the Rader family in meeting his medical and transportation needs over the past years.
