William T. Paduan

William 'Bill' T. Paduan, 53, Rothschild, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital after a courageous battle with leukemia. Bill was born April 28, 1957, in Chicago, IL. He attended Leo High School. Upon graduating in 1975, he attended UW Platteville & graduated with a Bachelor of Science Business, Industry & Communication Degree in 1979. After moving to the Wausau area, Bill was employed at Greenheck Fan Co. for 28 yrs as a Product Specialist in kitchen ventilation systems. He finished his career in the International Division covering the Mideast. He was also a member of the Rothschild Volunteer Fire Department for 15 yrs. As a member of the department, he started out as an EMT and worked his way up to the position of Fire Chief, a title he held for 4 yrs. As Chief, he dedicated much of his time and energy to bringing the department up to its current level of training - Advanced EMT (IV Tech). He was instrumental in implementing rope rescue and confined space rescue training. Because of his affiliation with Northcentral Technical College, he played a role in training many new firefighters and EMTs. Bill was also an adjunct instructor at Northcentral Technical College for the EMS department. He was a member of the Hazardous Materials Team for Marathon County. Bill was awarded Emergency Medical Technician of the Year by the Wausau Kiwanis Club in 1996. He was a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Bill was recently nominated by the Rothschild Fire Department and Saint Clare's Hospital and received the Star of Life Award for 2010 (a lifetime achievement award in the EMS community). Bill was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Rib Mountain. Bill was an avid deer hunter at the 'Club 7' shack in the Park Falls area. He also enjoyed 4-wheeling (when he could find the key) & spending time with his family & extended family in the Wausau and Park Falls area. Bill is survived by his loving (goofy) wife of 17 yrs, Brenda (Burbey) Paduan, Rothschild; two children, Nann Paduan, Rothschild; Nicholas Paduan, Wausau; His greatest joys in life were his two granddaughters, Kaylyn 5 and Hailey 1. He was preceded in death by his parents William 'Bill' T. Sr & Marie Paduan. Funeral services will be held at Noon Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Rib Mountain. The Rev. John Roseth will officiate. Burial will be in Nola Cemetery, Park Falls. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Bill's name.
