William "Bill" F. Feck

William F. "Bill" Feck, 87, Wausau died Monday, May 23, 2016 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau. He was born April 24, 1929 in Rhinelander, son of the late Harry and Mary (Schneck) Feck. On June 10, 1953, he married Arlene Hawley at St. James Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives. As a young man he was into stock car racing and playing baseball. He met the love of his life, Arlene Hawley, at a dance at the Rothschild pavilion. They were married for 63 years. Bill loved to hunt and fish, and tinker with cars. He spent many a weekend on the Willow flowage fishing. He was a great dancer and the life of the party. After he retired, Bill and Arlene went down to Casa Grande, Arizona for the winter months enjoying the pool and recreational activities. In his later years, he was known for flirting with the staff in the nursing home and playing cribbage. He will be missed greatly by his family. Bill worked at James River in Wausau for more than 12 years. Following that he went to work for Wisconsin Bearing Company for the next 25 years until his retirement. Bill also worked as a part time janitor for Marshfield Clinic. Bill was a member of the American Legion Montgomery Plant Dudley Post #10 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388, both of Wausau. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Wausau. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1950 - 1954. Survivors include his wife, Arlene Feck, Wausau, his children, Katherine (Alan) Kowalchyk, Balsam Lake, Barb Westerdyk, Wausau, Beth (Tom) Hoss, Kronenwetter, Jeffery (Debra) Feck, Wausau, Patrick (Lori) Feck, Merrill and Jami (Bryan) Stuettgen, Plover, 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and his siblings, Mavis Gilbert, Santa Anna, CA and Marge Knetter, Eau Claire and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Jeffrey Westerdyk, and his siblings, Dan, Jack, Harry Jr., and Patricia Feck, Isabelle Maissen, and Rose Pregont. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street. The Rev. Dan Thelen will officiate. Friends may call on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the Sixth Street funeral home. A lunch will be provided at the American Legion following the service.
