Terri Lynn McHugh, 47, Rib Mountain, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family May 14, 2015 under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Terri was born February 11, 1968 in San Antonio, Tex., daughter of Jim and Peggy (Calhoun) Rather. On November 6, 1999, she married the love of her life, Terry McHugh in Albuquerque, N.M. They were blessed with two beautiful children, Morgan and Nathan.
After moving to Wausau in 2006, Terri worked as Administrative Assistant for RMM Solutions. Among her favorite pastimes were rug hooking, backyard bird watching and enjoying the outdoors, especially camping and hiking with her family. Terri loved animals, and her dog Hawkeye, whom she rescued, and cats Smokey and Arthur were special members of her family.
Terri was a vibrant, energetic and caring woman who always put others needs before her own, especially those of her family. She had a zest for life and an infectious sense of humor that immediately drew people in and endeared them to her. Frequently changing her hair color was an outward expression of her inner sense of adventure and spontaneity. Everyone that was fortunate enough to have known her will remember Terri for her passion for living and loving life, right up to the very end.
She is survived by her husband, Terry, daughter, Morgan and son, Nathan, Rib Mountain, parents, Jim and Peggy Rather, Medina, Tex., sister, Cindy Rather (Dan Hatfield), Comfort, Tex., and brother, Brian (Jess) Rather, Austin, Tex.
Terri was preceded in death by an aunt, Pam Calhoun, who passed away in May 2014 from cancer.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau. Chaplain Robert Terrell will officiate. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the Sixth Street funeral home. At Terri's request, the service will be a celebration of her life and guests are encouraged to attend in a spirit of joy and thanksgiving for the time she shared with us.
In lieu of flowers, Terri asked that memorial donations be directed to Metavivor Research and Support, Inc., or the Pink Ribbon Riders.
Terri's family would like to extend a special thank you to the kind and compassionate caregivers with Ministry Home Care Hospice and also to the entire oncology department at Marshfield Clinic.
