Ruth A. J. Disbrow, 94, Wausau, was born into eternal life on Thursday, November 26, 2015 at Wausau Manor, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. She is reunited with the love of her life, her husband, Henry. Ruth resided at Wausau Manor since December of 2014.
She was born September 17, 1921 in Wausau, the daughter of the late Henry and Martha (Edler) Relitz. She was a lifelong resident of Wausau and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau, where she was baptized on October 12, 1921 and confirmed on April 5, 1936. Ruth graduated from the Wausau Senior High School in 1939. On June 7, 1941, she married Henry James Disbrow at Trinity Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on July 20, 1976.
Ruth dedicated her life to her family, raising three boys. Her passions included, needle work, family genealogy and competitive card games. Over the years, she was a homemaker and worked at the Wausau Rubber Works, Marathon Electric and Wausau Public Schools. Ruth was extremely proud of her family history and their involvement with Wausau. Her great-grandfather, Heinrick Relitz emigrated from Prussia to Wausau, operating one of the first brickyards in Wausau in the 1860's through 1890 as well as her grandfather, Richard Relitz, who was Captain of the Wausau Germania Guard ( a predecessor of the Wisconsin National Guard) and a member of the Wausau Police force in the early 1900's.
Survivors include, three sons, Larry (Sue) Disbrow, Weyerhaeuser, Jack (Linda) Disbrow, Oconomowoc and Keith Disbrow, Eau Claire; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a large extended family.
Besides her parents and husband, Henry, she was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Tesch.
Memorial services will be at Noon on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Gary Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Education Grant Fund of Trinity Lutheran School.
