Russell J. Sliwicki, 37, Town of Easton, died Tuesday March 12, 2002 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born November 18, 1964 , in Wausau, son of Jack Sliwicki and the late Beverly (Kraemer) Sliwicki. On June 30, 2001, he married Jennifer Lotter at St. Florian Catholic Church, Hatley. She survives.
Russ was a papermaker at Weyerhaeuser for the past eight years and prior to that worked at Greenheck Fan Corporation. He was a former 4 H Club leader and president, as well as former vice president and president of the FFA. At D.C. Everest High School he was a member of the wrestling team and orchestra. Russ was very active in the Wisconsin Valley Fair, the M.A.S.S. committee and was the weigh-in chairman. He was the current treasurer and past president of the Easton-Hewitt-Wausau Lions Club and had been an Eye Bank transporter for many years, helping others so they might see. Russ` love of family and his cherished wife, Jennifer was most important to him. He enjoyed being in the woods, snowmobiling, four wheeling, camping, hunting, fishing and has several trophy mounts to his credit. All who knew him, loved him, and will miss him.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Sliwicki, Town of Easton; father, Jack Sliwicki, Town of Easton; a brother Tony (fiancAC.` Rainie Kroeplin) Sliwicki, Wausau; sisters, Barbara (Russell) Lambrecht, Ringle, and Susan (John) Christensen, Town of Easton; maternal grandmother, Verona Kraemer, Town of Texas; a nephew, Jack A. Sliwicki and niece, Jacklyn Lambrecht whom he was Godfather to; and nieces Kaylee and Hanna Lambrecht.
He was preceded in death by his mother Beverly Sliwicki in 1994.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2002 at St. Florian Catholic Church, Hatley. Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the church where there will be a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. and again Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
Pallbearers will be John Christensen, Darrel Bliese, Brad Bliese, Doug Wasmundt, Jeff Kluechman, and Tod Thout.
The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be given to the Easton-Hewitt-Wausau Lions Club.
